Sony Tower

North America

Originally built in 1984 for AT&T, Sony purchased the building in 1992. The building is clad in granite from the same quarry that supplied the granite for Grand Central Terminal. One of the most noted skyscrapers in New York with its unusual pediment. The shape is reminiscent of the Chippendale highboy, designed by English cabinet maker, Thomas Chippendale. The tower is the U.S. headquarters of Sony Corporation.
